Plagiarism Policy
CogNexus is committed to maintaining high standards of originality, academic integrity, and ethical scholarly publishing. The journal does not tolerate plagiarism, inappropriate duplication, or misrepresentation of previously published or unpublished work.
Plagiarism Screening
All submitted manuscripts may be screened using appropriate plagiarism or similarity-detection software before or during the editorial and peer review process.
A similarity percentage alone is not considered conclusive evidence of plagiarism. The editorial team evaluates the nature, source, extent, and context of identified similarities before reaching a decision.
Forms of Plagiarism
Plagiarism may include:
-
copying text, ideas, data, figures, tables, images, or other material without proper attribution;
-
presenting another person's work or ideas as one's own;
-
inappropriate paraphrasing without proper citation;
-
substantial reuse of an author's previously published work without appropriate citation or disclosure (self-plagiarism);
-
duplicate or redundant publication without appropriate disclosure;
-
reproducing copyrighted material without proper acknowledgement or permission where required; and
-
presenting AI-generated or AI-assisted material in a way that results in unattributed, fabricated, or misleading scholarly content.
Editorial Action
If potential plagiarism is identified before publication, CogNexus may request clarification or revision from the authors. Manuscripts containing substantial or serious plagiarism may be rejected.
If plagiarism is identified after publication, the journal will investigate the matter and may issue a correction, retraction, or other appropriate editorial notice, depending on the nature and severity of the case.
Serious cases of research misconduct may be referred to the authors' institution or other relevant authority where appropriate.
Author Responsibility
Authors are responsible for ensuring the originality of their manuscripts, properly citing all sources, acknowledging reused material, and obtaining necessary permission for copyrighted third-party content.
Authors remain responsible for verifying any content produced or assisted by artificial intelligence tools and ensuring that such use does not compromise originality, accuracy, attribution, or research integrity.
CogNexus evaluates plagiarism concerns on the basis of evidence and scholarly context rather than relying solely on a numerical similarity score.
